Xinjiang 160 m³/h Snowmelt Water Treatment Project: Bangmo Submerged MCR UF Membrane Simplifies Process, Reduces Costs and Improves Efficiency

Date: July 28, 2026

A large-scale Water Treatment project in Xinjiang has recently completed commissioning and entered stable operation. The project has a designed treatment capacity of 160 m³/h, with the water source being high-turbidity snowmelt whose quality fluctuates significantly with temperature changes. The project adopts Zhuhai Bangmo Technology Co., Ltd.'s (hereinafter referred to as "Bangmo Technology") submerged MCR Ultrafiltration Membrane as the core treatment unit, successfully eliminating multiple pretreatment steps such as coagulation, sedimentation, and multimedia filtration required by conventional processes. This enables direct ultrafiltration of high-turbidity raw water, significantly shortening the process flow and reducing land occupation and operation and maintenance costs.

Project Challenge: High-Turbidity Snowmelt Water is Difficult to Treat

Snowmelt water in the Xinjiang region is characterized by high turbidity and significant quality fluctuations with temperature. During the spring and summer snowmelt season, raw water turbidity rises sharply and fluctuates frequently due to day-night temperature differences. Conventional treatment processes require multiple pretreatment steps including coagulation, sedimentation, and multimedia filtration — resulting in lengthy processes, large land occupation, and complicated operation and maintenance. This not only increases upfront investment but also significantly raises daily O&M complexity.

Bangmo MCR Technology: Eliminates All Pretreatment Steps

To address these challenges, the project adopts Bangmo Technology's submerged MCR ultrafiltration membrane technology, which combines membrane technology with physicochemical sedimentation processes. Bangmo MCR Membrane Modules are made of reinforced modified PVDF material, offering excellent permeability, mechanical properties, chemical resistance, and fouling resistance. The membrane modules feature a filtration precision of 0.03 microns with outside-in filtration direction — raw water permeates into the hollow fiber interior under differential pressure, while bacteria, colloids, suspended solids, and microorganisms are retained in the membrane tank.

Bangmo MCR UF membranes offer the following core advantages:

  • Eliminates all pretreatment steps: High-turbidity snowmelt water can directly enter the UF system without coagulation, sedimentation, or multimedia filtration-;
  • Withstands water quality shocks: The system operates stably despite large turbidity fluctuations caused by temperature changes in snowmelt water, with consistently controllable effluent turbidity;
  • Superior effluent quality: Permeate can directly feed into the reverse osmosis system for pure water production, providing high-quality feed water for downstream advanced treatment;
  • Significantly shortened process flow: Reduces land occupation and upfront investment while simplifying daily operation and maintenance.

Project Outcomes: Significant Cost Reduction and Efficiency Improvement

Since the project went into operation, the Bangmo MCR UF system has been running stably with effluent quality consistently meeting standards. The permeate can directly enter the reverse osmosis system for pure water production. Compared with conventional processes, this project has eliminated multiple pretreatment steps including coagulation, sedimentation, and multimedia filtration, resulting in a significantly shortened process flow, substantially reduced land occupation, lower upfront investment, and greatly simplified daily O&M — delivering remarkable cost reduction and efficiency improvement.

Focus on UF, Adapting to Diverse and Complex Water Treatment Conditions

Bangmo Technology has been deeply engaged in UF membrane R&D and manufacturing for over three decades, possessing core technologies and large-scale production capabilities for high-end separation membranes. The company's main products include pressurized hollow fiber UF membrane modules, submerged MBR membrane modules, and submerged ultrafiltration (MCR) membrane modules, widely used in water purification, wastewater treatment, and water reuse, with exports to Europe, the United States, the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, and other regions.

The successful application in this Xinjiang snowmelt water treatment project once again validates the excellent performance of Bangmo's submerged MCR UF membranes under high-turbidity, significant water quality fluctuation conditions. Bangmo Technology will continue to provide stable and reliable UF membrane products, adapting to diverse and complex water treatment conditions, and delivering efficient, cost-effective membrane separation solutions for more water treatment projects.
